Do you have opinions either way on the 7 questions posed by the author in this article?

I do not believe that wearing a traditionally ‘black’ hairstyle is cultural appropriation as long as it is done correctly and not in a way that will offend anybody else. The 7 questions are below.

• “Why can’t we all just be equals and share our cultures?”
• “What about when black women straighten their hair?”
• “Why are you trying to limit freedom?”
• “Where do you draw the line? Why are you trying to divide people?”
• “Are you saying I’m a bad person if I have one of these hairstyles?”
• “What if my black friend says it’s OK?”
• “I don’t support racism, so why is it a problem if I wear a traditional black hair style?”

Although some of these questions may confuse some people, I believe that it explains this situation perfectly. The first question asks why we can’t all just share cultures and be equal. I have mixed feelings on this as yes, it is great to share cultures and spread knowledge, however, some of these black hairstyles have a dark history behind them, which means that they are historical and to see any person wearing them could be offensive.
